If the world survived Nazi Germany hosting the 1936 Berlin Olympics, I suppose it will likely tolerate a so-called "green" Olympics hosted by another godless, totalitarian regime. The fireworks at least should be fantastic. I noted the reporter’s jocular take on the “alleged” genocide and human rights abuses, possible jailing of dissenters, and a “perceived” crackdown on press freedoms—those wacky Communists! I particularly enjoyed how he mentioned-- tongue in cheek-- the "somewhat drastic step" of executing the head of the Chinese Food and Drug Agency last month. Of course, it probably won’t do much to curb the pork-flavored cardboard, but maybe they will be serving “real” hot dogs, if you know what I mean. Their sensibility for food quality, sanitation, and public health runs on par with the early 1900’s American meatpacking industry as described in Upton Sinclair’s ‘The Jungle’. Their recent quality control “issues” are no doubt the tip of a huge and festering problem. But forget all that. The ideals embodied in the Olympic games are intended to help the world rise above national and cultural differences in the spirit of honest competition and sportsmanship. Still, I don’t think that includes taking a light view of the human rights crimes of such a dangerous nation quietly bent on world domination.

I for one will not support the Olympics in China; they have not made any reparations for the atrocities of 1989 in Tiananmen Square.

Thank You MGoBlue:It is so true. I can't imagine how many dogs and cats will be killed to feed the visitors and passed off as chicken. Let us not forget their systematic murder of tigers for the "medicines" they peddle.

Thank you MGoBlueI hate to think how many dogs and cats will be killed to be fed to foreigners and passed off as chicken! Let us not forget about the rare tigers they routinely murder to put in their "medicine".

Hey MGoBlue0970 - I'm not sure that cardboard was pork flavored! I think it was dirt flavored!

Yeah... did you see the article about the steamed buns in Beijing are actually pork-flavored cardboard???? Not good news on the heels of China's manufacturers killing our pets and lead-poisoning our children.

If you go to China, don't eat anything, don't drink anything and don't touch anything! You are probably better off to watch it on television. Thank you. Thank you very much!
